MADINAH A medical team at Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah saved the life of an Indonesian woman pilgrim whose heart had stopped for eight minutes.

The Hajj pilgrim suffered a cardiac arrest after the plane landed at the airport runway. The Madinah Health Cluster stated that the medical team at the airport’s Health Control Center received an emergency call that a Hajj pilgrim had fainted at the international arrival longue shortly after her plane touched down.

The medical team at the airport responded quickly and they found that the pilgrim’s heart was no longer beating and they instantly began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) two times until her pulse was restored and her condition became normal. The pilgrim was transferred to a hospital where her condition is stable.

It is noteworthy that the Health Control Center at the airport had received 90,104 pilgrims since the beginning of the current annual Hajj pilgrimage season through the main center and temporary health units inside the airport. It stated that a total of 87,857 pilgrims have benefited from the preventive services provided by the center.

The Health Cluster stated that the number of beneficiaries of its treatment services reached 2,218 patients, of which 29 cases were referred to hospitals in the region to continue receiving treatment.
