RIYADH — The Roads General Authority (RGA) said that it has harnessed 28 performance contracts for the maintenance of roads leading to the Holy Sites.
RGA revealed the standards for performance contracts, saying that it uses modern technologies in road inspection and maintenance, in addition to the use of modern equipment in monitoring the roads 24 hours a day.
The standards of performance contracts also depend on payment for performance, quality and safety.
It is noteworthy that the transportation system is the first government agency to adopt performance contracts.
The performance contracts are road operation and maintenance contracts that depend on providing the level of service that emanated from the ISO 55001:2014 - Asset management, which is based on three things represented in quality and safety, in addition to user satisfaction.
The RGA clarified the difference between performance contracts and previous contracts, noting that contracts in the past were a schedule of quantities represented in labor, equipment and materials.
As for performance contracts now, the service is provided based on outputs, not quantities, in accordance to specific criteria to achieve smart goals for managing and preserving assets and extending their life span.
