JEDDAH — Famed educationist Dr. Mohammed Vizarat Rasool Khan, founder and chairman of Shadan Group of Educational Institutions, passed away after prolonged illness in Hyderabad. Dr. Vizarat Rasool Khan underwent treatment at Apollo hospital. He is survived by his wife and four sons.
The news of his sad demise affected expatriates of Andhra Pradesh in particular, as Dr. Khan’s services in the educational field for the past three decades were remarkable. He established 56 educational institutions throughout the Andhra Pradesh.
Mir Ghazanfar Ali, General Secretary of Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA), said: “The death of the former MLA, senior Muslim leader, founder and chairman of Shadan Group of Educational Institutions has created a vacuum in Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Vizarat’s death is a great loss to the Andhra Pradesh Muslim community and to the nation.
“He was considered a pioneer in minority education. He is the only person in India to have established 56 educational institutions right from KG to PG. His services to the Andhra Pradesh Muslim Community in the field of education are invaluable. I convey my sincere condolences to his bereaved family members.”
More than 20,000 students are enrolled every year in his educational empire. He has set up the largest network of educational institution among Muslims in India in recent past which includes 24 engineering colleges, 2 medical colleges and hospitals.
Dr. Vizarat’s younger brother Virasat Rasool Khan is the current MLA of Nampally constituency in Hyderabad.
Aleem Khan Falaki, president socio reforms and senior member of Khak-e-Taiba Trust Jeddah, said “Vizarat Khan’s sad demise is a great loss to Muslims of AP. He has done a lot of work in the education field and his educational empire serves a lot of students.”
“One of his greatest achievement was the setting up of first Muslim medical college and hospital for girls. Apart from this he did a lot of work in female education, teachers training and ladies empowerment,” he said.
