RIYADH —The Human Rights Council (HRC) has strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an outside the Stockholm Central Mosque during Muslims' celebration of Eid Al-Adha.
In a statement issued after its 11th session, the council denounced this act as a deliberate provocation that incites violence, hatred and poses a setback in the ongoing efforts to combat hate speech, radicalism and promote values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
President of the Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri chaired the session.
The council emphasized the need for intensified measures to promote values of tolerance and coexistence. It also stressed the significance of upholding the Human Rights Charter and relevant international conventions.
