Passenger caught at Jeddah airport with 1.3kg of heroin and 41.7g of opium hidden in bowels

JEDDAH —
Customs officers at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of heroin and opium from a passenger.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) said the officers found more than 1.3 kilograms of heroin, 41.7 grams of opium hidden in the bowels of the passenger who was coming to Saudi Arabia.

After the seizure, the authority confirmed that it has coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) to ensure that they arrest those who were supposed to receive this quantity of narcotics in the Kingdom. The operation was successfully completed with the arrests of two suspects.
