Ford v Ferrari

Majed Garoub

This is in light of re-watching Ford v Ferrari, a film that confirms a cinematic relationship between the car industry and the cinema industry, including fashion and luxury.

An incredible film starring numerous A-list celebrities, including Christian Bale and Matt Damon, the movie sheds light on the drama of motorsport competitions — how car manufacturers face off in such competitions, Le Mans being a primary example.

The story was about the rise of Ford against Ferrari’s dominance back in the early 60’s, winning back-to-back championships from 1966 to 1969.

The automotive industry is one of the largest and most influential sports around the world. It’s a high-risk, low-reward industry that requires high funding. F1 in Saudi Arabia has had the support from the largest companies in the country including Aramco, STC, ROSHIN as well as the Ministry of Investment.

The Ministry had a large and vital role in supporting the automotive industry. Hence, recently, a significant number of agreements have been signed in order to attract and nationalize investments in automotive sports, including Speed Sports Company.
