Saudi prosecution warns of 5-year jail, SR30,000 fine for possession of narcotics

RIYADH — The Public Prosecution warned that anyone who possesses narcotic substances without the intent of trafficking or promotion will be punished with imprisonment and a fine.

The warning is aimed at anyone who possesses narcotics or psychotropic substances, transports them, hands them over, or receives them without the intent of trafficking, promotion, or personal use, without proper authorization.

According to Article 39 of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Law, anyone who conducts the above acts will be jailed for up to 5 years, in addition to the imposition of a fine of SR30,000,
