JEDDAH — In an intense showdown during the second round of the Saudi Professional League, Al-Ittihad demonstrated its prowess by securing a decisive 2-0 victory over Al-Tai.

The triumph catapulted Al-Ittihad to the top of the league standings, edging out its rival Al-Ahli on goal difference.

At the highly anticipated match held at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, Al-Ittihad’s dominance in the first half was palpable.

However, remarkable performance of Al-Tai’s goalkeeper, Victor Braga, prevented Al-Ittihad from converting their chances.

Braga’s acrobatic saves denied Karim Benzema, Abdulrazak Hamdallah, N’Golo Kanté, and Ahmed Bamsaud the opportunity to break the deadlock.

The turning point came in the second half, as Al-Ittihad broke through Al-Tai’s defense with a well-executed corner kick.

In the 54th minute, Moroccan striker Abdulrazak Hamdallah capitalized on a delivery from Igor Coronado, unleashing a powerful shot that found the back of the net.

As the clock ticked down, Al-Ittihad continued to assert its dominance. During injury time, Saleh Al-Amri sealed victory with a perfectly timed goal.

A swift exchange of passes between Hamdallah and Fabínho culminated in Al-Amri’s clinical finish, leaving Al-Tai’s defense helpless.

The win marked Al-Ittihad’s second consecutive triumph in the league, propelling the defending champions to a total of six points.

This impressive performance not only secured their top position but also showcased their determination to retain the title.

Meanwhile, Al-Tai’s valiant efforts earned them three points, placing them in the tenth position in the league standings.
