RIYADH — A total of 273 commercial records were issued for making silver jewelry until the middle of July this year, the Ministry of Commerce revealed to Al-Eqtisadiah business daily.
The ministry has advised consumers purchasing gold and jewelry to make sure that the karat is marked the piece.
The stamp of the merchant or jeweler must be present on the piece, the ministry said, adding that the weight should be checked on a sensitive scale.
People must receive a stamped invoice from the seller including the price and details of the purchased piece, such as the gram rate and the total weight.
The invoice must also include the name of the store and its commercial information, in addition to the gold karat, gold and stone weight, the price of a gram of gold and the total price, the type of the stone, whether it is a precious stone and has value or a non-precious stone of no value.
The date of the purchase and the ID number of the buyer must also be put in the invoice.
The ministry advised buyers to keep the invoice as long as they own the purchased piece to guarantee their rights.
It has also called on consumers to report their grievances through the complaints center on the following number: 1900, or via the Balagh Tijari App, or the ministry's website.
