RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Batha port has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 183,900 Captagon pills found hidden in a vehicle arriving in the Kingdom through the border crossing.

The authority explained that while inspecting one of the vehicles coming through the Al-Batha port, a large quantity of Captagon pills was found hidden inside the trunk.

ZATCA added that after coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, the recipient of the items inside the Kingdom was arrested.

The authority stressed that it will continue tightening customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports at all its customs outlets and strictly deal with smuggling attempts to protect society from such criminal acts.

The authority also called on all citizens to help combat smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting the designated number for security reports by calling 1910, via e-mail: 1910@zatca.gov.sa or through the international phone number 00966114208417, channels through which the authority receives reports related to smuggling and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system. It stated that it would deal with such reports in strict confidentiality and give a financial reward to the person reporting if the information turned out to be correct. — SPA
