RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned and denounced the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an by an extremist in Malmö, Sweden.

The horrendous act was carried out with the knowledge of the local authorities who authorized him to carry out his heinous crime.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, it has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s rejection of all these blatant acts that were systematically repeated in a number of European capitals under the pretext of freedom of expression, in order to provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.

The Ministry stressed Saudi Arabia’s call for the Swedish authorities to urgently address these practices and stop providing permits to this extremist group, which contributes to fueling hatred and racism.
