MANILA — Saudi Arabia’s embassy in the Philippines said that it is currently working, in coordination with the competent Philippine authorities, to repatriate the body of the deceased Saudi citizen Sulaiman Jamal to the Kingdom after completing the necessary procedures.

The embassy said in a statement that it is following up with utmost keenness the details of the painful incident with the Philippine authorities, and is also following very carefully the condition of the injured wife of the citizen after she was transferred to a hospital near the scene of the incident.

“The embassy received with great sadness and sorrow the news of the killing of a Saudi citizen and the injury of his wife, at the hands of an unknown person who opened fire on them while the citizen was driving his vehicle along with his wife on a public road in Shariff Aguak in the southern Maguindanao del Sur province. The embassy and all its employees extend their sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, asking God Almighty to bestow His vast mercy on the deceased,” it said in a statement.

The Saudi national Sulaiman Jamal and his wife Bainot were together in a white Ford pick-up truck when they were attacked by two gunmen at a busy stretch of a highway in Shariff Aguak on Tuesday evening.
