Okaz/Saudi Gazette
JEDDAH — A high-level delegation from the Financial Times (FT), the British daily business newspaper, visited the Okaz and Saudi Gazette newspapers at the headquarters of Okaz Organization for Press and Publication in Jeddah on Sunday.
During the visit, both sides discussed areas of joint cooperation between the two leading media organizations. On their part, officials of the British newspaper reviewed potential opportunities for cooperation in the fields of digital media, publishing, and training.
The FT delegation expressed their aspirations for future cooperation with the Okaz and Saudi Gazette newspapers, appreciating the professional track record and the media successes that the two newspapers have hitherto achieved.
On his part, Jameel Altheyabi, editor-in-chief of Okaz and general supervisor of Saudi Gazette, said that in the event of signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Okaz and the Financial Times, it would enhance the exchange of experiences and content making, featuring high professional quality.
Altheyabi said both sides discussed, during the meeting, many of the challenges facing the media industry, and how to enhance interaction and participation in a way that reflects positively on the media work.
Altheyabi extended his thanks, appreciation and gratitude to Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Okaz Organization, for all the unlimited support that he is extending to improve the Okaz team and journalists, and for spending money, time and effort to develop professional excellence and quality of production.
For his part, James Lamont, director of Strategic Partnerships at the Financial Times, expressed his happiness over his first visit to Okaz and meeting with top officials of the Okaz Organization, saying: “We held a fruitful meeting, focusing on the latest developments in the media and publishing industry.”
It is noteworthy that the Financial Times newspaper was founded in 1888 while Okaz newspaper was established in 1960 whereas Saudi Gazette came into being in 1976.
