KAU partners with ADEX for American Dental licensure exams

November 18, 2023

JEDDAH — King Abdulaziz University (KAU) and the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) have formalized a service contract to facilitate licensure examinations at the King Abdulaziz University Faculty of Dentistry (KAUFD).

The signing ceremony, attended by Acting President of KAU Prof. Hanaa Al-Naim, KAU Vice-President for Academic Affairs Prof. Adel Abuzunadah, Dean of KAUFD Prof. Abdulghani Mira, ADEX President Dr. Mark Armstrong, ADEX CEO Alex Vandevere, distinguished ADEX representatives, and KAUFD Vice Deans, solidified the collaboration.

ADEX will administer licensure examinations covering various dental specialties, employing high-fidelity computerized objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), simulation on manikins, and clinical examinations on patients.

The inaugural dental licensure exams are scheduled on the KAU campus from June 23 to 27, 2024.

KAU, being the first institution outside the United States and South America to host American Licensure Examinations for dental practitioners, is distinguished by KAUFD's accreditation by the US-based Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

This accreditation makes KAUFD graduates eligible for the licensure examination.

Prof. Mira emphasized that this collaboration positions KAUFD as an international hub for ADEX licensure examinations, attracting eligible dental practitioners worldwide.

This initiative aligns with KAU and KAUFD's strategic plans and supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals, fostering strategic alliances and elevating dental professional standards in the Kingdom. — SG
