Saudi, US officials seek to expand cooperation in peaceful space exploration

WASHINGTON
— A joint statement was issued on Monday following the official visit of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Space Commission, to the United States, leading a delegation representing Saudi Arabia's digital economy, space, and innovation sectors.

The statement emphasized strong cooperation in outer space exploration for peaceful purposes as well as commercial opportunities in the space industry between the two nations.

Key highlights include discussions on the potential signing of a framework agreement for bilateral cooperation in peaceful space exploration, building on Saudi Arabia's commitment as a signatory to the Artemis Accords. The statement also underscored expanding collaborative activities in space, earth sciences, and exploratory missions.
