PARIS — Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Saudi Arabia’s victory in hosting Expo 2030 in Riyadh.

He affirmed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s readiness to welcome the world, harnessing all its capabilities.

This follows the announcement by the International Bureau of Exhibitions of Saudi Arabia’s win to host the Expo from October 2030 to March 2031, securing 119 votes during the secret electronic ballot at the 173rd General Assembly meeting in Paris.

Prince Mohammed Bin Salman expressed gratitude to the countries that voted for Riyadh, including the competing nations of South Korea and Italy.

The Crown Prince stated that this victory reinforces Saudi Arabia’s leading and pivotal role, gaining international confidence and making it an ideal destination for hosting major global events, with Expo being one of them.

“The Kingdom is committed to delivering an exceptional and unprecedented edition of Expo, contributing actively and positively to a brighter future for humanity.

“The event aims to provide a global platform, leveraging the latest technologies and bringing together the brightest minds to optimize opportunities and propose solutions to today’s challenges.”

He added: “The hosting of Expo 2030 coincides with the culmination of the goals and plans of Saudi Vision 2030, making it a fantastic opportunity to share the lessons learned from the unprecedented transformation journey.”

Riyadh, as the capital of a strategically important country, serves as a vital bridge connecting continents, attracting international events, global investments, and visitors. It serves as a gateway to the world.

The file for hosting Expo 2030 received significant and direct support from the Crown Prince, starting with Saudi Arabia’s official application to the International Bureau of Exhibitions on Oct. 29, 2021.

Expos have been held since 1851, serving as the largest global platform to showcase the latest achievements and technologies, promote international cooperation in economic development, trade, arts, culture, and the dissemination of science and technology.
