RIYADH
— The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has unveiled the Women's U20 National Team, marking a pivotal moment in the development of young female footballers in Saudi Arabia.

This strategic move is part of SAFF's broader vision to establish clear and sustainable career pathways for aspiring women footballers, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the sport's growth across all levels.

The team, comprised of talented players from the senior national team and those progressing from the U17 squad, is currently immersed in its inaugural training camp in Riyadh from December 5 to 11, 2023. This milestone signifies the commencement of a new era in the evolution of women's football in Saudi Arabia, underscoring SAFF's dedication to nurturing young talent.

"A new era in Saudi women's football begins today with the introduction of the U20 National Team. This team serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity for our young athletes, illuminating the path to international success. Under the expert guidance of Pauline Hamil, we are confident that these young women will not only develop as players but also emerge as role models for future generations. Their journey embodies our unwavering commitment to elevating women's football in Saudi Arabia and on the global stage," stated Aalia AlRasheed, head of the Women’s Football Department at SAFF.

Pauline Hamil, the newly appointed head coach of the U20 team, brings a wealth of experience to the role. With a distinguished career that includes playing for the Scotland national team and coaching various youth teams within the Scottish FA, her expertise positions the team for success in future regional and international competitions.

The team is gearing up for its first friendly match scheduled for March 2024, a significant milestone in their preparation for upcoming competitions.
