Saudi industry minister starts official visit to Japan

TOKYO — Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef started an official visit to Japan to develop the comprehensive strategic relations between the two sides.

During the visit, Alkhorayef met with a number of government officials and executives of private sector companies operating in the industrial and mining sectors, in addition to investors.

The Saudi minister discussed with government officials the implementation of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030's projects, which the two countries agreed upon during the visit of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to Japan in September 2016.

The projects cover 9 sectors, including food and agricultural security, medical care, high quality infrastructure, finance and investment, competitive industries,and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Alkhorayef will also meet during his visit with various Japanese investors to brief them on the investment environment in Saudi Arabia and attract qualitative investments to the vital sectors in the Kingdom.

The Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF) financed 15 joint projects with Japan with a total of SR5,434,947,000.

The industrial cities in Saudi Arabia are embracing 11 factories owned by Japanese investors with Saudi partners. The factories are operating in various industrial fields, such as chemical industries, medical industries, and electrical industries for cable production.
