Newly appointed emir of Madinah and 5 deputy emirs take oath before King Salman

RIYADH — Newly appointed Emir of Madinah Prince Salman bin Sultan and five deputy emirs of various regions took the oath of office in front of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Irqah Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony, which followed the issuance of a series of royal orders appointing them to their new positions recently, was held in the presence of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Taking the oath of office, the emir and each one of the deputy emirs said: “I swear by Almighty Allah to be loyal to my religion, then to my King and my country, and not to reveal any of the state’s secrets, and to preserve its interests and its regulations, and to perform my duties with honesty, trustworthiness, sincerity and justice.”

Those who took the oath of office in front of the King included Madinah Emir Prince Salman bin Sultan; Prince Saud bin Mishaal, deputy emir of the Makkah region; Prince Saud bin Bandar, deputy emir of the Eastern Province; Prince Khalid bin Saud, deputy emir of the Tabuk region; Prince Khaled bin Sattam, deputy emir of the Asir region; and Prince Miteb bin Mishaal, deputy emir of the Al-Jouf region.

The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif.

King Salman appointed Prince Salman bin Sultan and five new deputy emirs in a raft of royal orders issued on Dec. 12. The King also appointed Prince Faisal bin Salman, emir of Madinah, as special advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at the rank of minister and chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah),
