RIYADH — Prince Salman bin Sultan arrived on Sunday in Madinah to assume duties as emir of the Madinah region. He took the oath of office before Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman last Wednesday.

Upon his arrival in Madinah, Prince Salman bin Sultan was received by Prince Faisal bin Salman, special advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal, deputy emir of the Madinah region, and a number of senior civilian and military officials.

Prince Salman expressed his pride in the trust reposed in him, saying that this carries great honor and mandate to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership at a time when the holy city is experiencing a development renaissance in various fields, within the framework of the care given by the state to serve the people of the region and its visitors.

Later, Prince Salman bin Sultan visited the Prophet’s Mosque and performed prayers at Al-Rawdah Al-Sharif. At the Prophet’s Mosque, the emir was received by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, head of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Al-Khudairi, deputy president for religious affairs at the Prophet’s Mosque, imams and preachers of the Prophet’s Mosque, and a number of officials.
