ABU DHABI — Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the attorney-general of the United Arab Emirates, has taken decisive action against 84 individuals, predominantly linked to the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood.

These defendants are being brought before the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal, also known as the State Security Court, facing serious allegations of forming a covert group aimed at executing violent and terrorist activities on UAE soil.

This significant move comes after thorough investigations into the defendants’ activities, who initially managed to conceal their crimes and related evidence.

Their involvement was initially probed in the State Security Case No (17) of 2013.

The Attorney-General's office, having gathered substantial evidence through meticulous investigations over six months, decided to proceed with legal action.

Each accused has been assigned legal representation, ensuring a fair trial process.

The State Security Court has already commenced public trial proceedings, focusing on bringing transparency and justice to the case.

Lawyers have been appointed for those defendants lacking legal counsel, and witness testimonies are currently being heard as part of the ongoing public trial procedures. — WAM
