RIYADH — Saudi Arabia celebrated the milestone of being among the first countries to start the construction of its pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan.

Saudi Arabia’s delegation to this celebration was headed by the Commissioner General of the Kingdom’s Pavilion at Osaka Expo 2025 Eng. Othman Al-Muzaiad and Head of the Construction Track of the Kingdom's Pavilion Eng. Firas Al-Turki at Expo 2025 Osaka's official exhibition site on Yumeshima Island.

The Saudi pavilion, designed to showcase heritage, traditions, and values, serves as a reflection of the Saudi identity and its historical significance as a nurturing ground for ancient civilizations spanning thousands of years. Moreover, the pavilion emphasizes the ongoing transformation aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed to achieve economic and social objectives while unlocking future capabilities.

The construction of the pavilion symbolizes the Kingdom’s commitment to the environment, emphasizing its dedication to sustainable design and a better future. In its design, the Kingdom’s pavilion draws inspiration from traditional urban formations, presenting a representation of Saudi Arabia’s history, culture, and heritage.

The design is both distinctive and sustainable, showcasing the Kingdom’s commitment to a shared future and incorporating cutting-edge sustainability technologies. These features include the use of renewable materials and a reconfigurable structure to minimize environmental impact.

The Saudi Pavilion is designed in a way achieving zero operational emissions by following Japan’s highest level of urban environmental efficiency standards. Low-carbon materials, energy-saving technology, rainwater recycling, and solar power enabled this achievement. Moreover, the design can be easily dismantled and reassembled in the future.

Government delegations from Saudi Arabia and Japan, along with officials from other participating countries in Expo 2025 attended the Saudi celebration and its cultural fiesta held on the occasion.

It is noteworthy that Expo 2025 Osaka will be officially opened in April 2025, with the participation of more than 160 countries and multilateral organizations under the theme “Designing future society for our lives” and within the framework of three sub-themes: ensuring the sustainability of life, improving life, and enhancing life through communication. Osaka is expected to host more than 28 million visitors.
