Cabinet reiterates Kingdom's support for all efforts to ban all forms of WMD

RIYADH — The Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Tuesday in Riyadh, reiterated the Kingdom's support for regional and international efforts to ban all forms of weapons of mass destruction.

The backing comes following its affirmation during its participation in the High-Level Conference on Disarmament (CD) held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

It also welcomed intensified cooperation to address present and future challenges in outer space and mitigate its threats.

The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, reaffirming the Kingdom's enduring commitment to supporting and enhancing joint Arab action across all fields.

This aims to establish the foundations of security, stability, and prosperity in the region

During the session, the Cabinet was briefed on a message received by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques from the president of Tajikistan, in addition to the outcomes of two meetings between Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman with the president of Ukraine and the speaker of the Russian State Duma.

The Cabinet addressed recent conversations between senior officials from the Kingdom and their counterparts in various countries worldwide.

These discussions highlighted the robust relations between Saudi Arabia and friendly countries, founded on cooperation and coordination, an active commitment to addressing humanitarian issues and a focus on developmental affairs and challenges.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Media Salman Bin Yousef Al-Dosari indicated that the Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of Saudi Arabia's participation in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The minister mentioned that this review included highlighting the Kingdom's vision regarding the group's role in addressing existing international tensions and restructuring global governance to enhance the effectiveness of multilateral frameworks and fulfill its global commitments.

The Cabinet also reviewed the latest regional and international developments, primarily in the Palestinian territories, renewing the call to address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and its surroundings and to end the escalation in military operations threatening international peace and security.

Regarding domestic affairs, the Cabinet expressed appreciation for what the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) had achieved in adding large quantities to the proven reserves of gas and condensates in the unconventional Jafurah Field.

The Cabinet thanked the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council for acknowledging the Kingdom's milestone achievement of being visited by over 100 million tourists in 2023, as well as for its striving to become a desired destination on the world tourism map.

The Cabinet reviewed various agenda items, encompassing those examined by the Shoura Council. Additionally, it considered the conclusions put forth by the Economic and Development Affairs Council, the Political and Security Affairs Council, the General Committee of the Cabinet, and the Cabinet's Bureau of Experts.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of energy to discuss and sign with the Malaysian and Tanzanian sides two draft memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the field of energy.

It approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Sport and the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports for cooperation in the fields of youth and sports.

The Cabinet approved the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's accession to the International Drought Resilience Alliance.

It authorized the minister of environment, water and agriculture, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the Thai side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in the field of natural resources and the environment.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of environment, water and agriculture to discuss and sign with the Chinese side protocols between the two countries regarding inspection and quarantine requirements for dairy products and their derivatives, poultry products and poultry parts, and inspection, quarantine, and veterinary requirements for farmed aquatic products exported from the Kingdom to China, and the health requirements for exporting products that are agreed upon with the Chinese side to be exported from the Kingdom to China.

It authorized the minister of investment to discuss and sign with the Barbadian side a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of promoting direct investment.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of health to discuss and sign with the Turkmen side a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the Republic of Turkmenistan for cooperation.

It approved a memorandum of understanding between the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission of Saudi Arabia and the Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of nuclear and radiation safety and radiation protection.

The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Singapore Accreditation Council.

It approved the National Center for Privatization & PPP's accession to the International Organization for Public-Private Partnership Units.

The Cabinet authorized the president of Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University to discuss and sign with the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation of the United Arab Emirates a memorandum of cooperation.

It approved a memorandum of understanding between Saudi Arabia and Rwanda for cooperation in implementing the Oil Demand Sustainability Program initiatives. — SPA
