Cabinet lauds large global presence in HCI Conference, highlights projects and MoUs

RIYADH — The Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Tuesday in Riyadh, examined the recent endeavors carried out by the Kingdom in the economic, cultural, and social domains, and expressed pride in the large international presence at the Human Capability Initiative Conference, in which some 100 countries took part.

The Cabinet also highlighted the fact that over 50 projects, memoranda of understanding, and agreements were established at the conference, all of which aimed at fostering global collaboration in the field of human capability development.

The Cabinet was briefed on the phone call Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman received from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders reviewed relations and ways of strengthening cooperation in various fields.

The Cabinet also discussed the outcome of Saudi Arabia's participation in recent regional and international meetings, which reflects the country’s commitment to fostering collaboration with multilateral organizations and blocs, and keenness to strengthen coordination and collective action.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Bin Yousef Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet assessed the unfolding events in Gaza and reiterated its call to the international community to adopt a strong position and compel the Israeli occupation forces to uphold international humanitarian law.

It further urged the immediate establishment of secure humanitarian corridors to facilitate the unrestricted delivery of relief aid and medical equipment.

The Cabinet stressed that the Kingdom's commemoration of the Flag Day, which falls on March 11, is a significant occasion that underscores the nation's great pride in its national identity, and a moment to reflect on the great past, present and future of the country.

The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding for cooperation with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the fields of energy.

It also approved a cooperation agreement between Saudi Arabia and Senegal in the field of energy. It approved a memorandum of cooperation with the Republic of Chad in the field of energy.

The Cabinet authorized the chairman of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives board of directors to sign a draft memorandum of cooperation with the British Library in London.

It approved a general cooperation agreement and a security cooperation agreement with the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of culture to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia in the cultural field.

It authorized the minister of environment, water and agriculture, or a deputy, to discuss and sign with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) a draft agreement to contribute to the center’s endowment investment fund.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of economy and planning to discuss and sign with the Estonian side a draft agreement of cooperation.

It approved a reference model of a cooperation agreement between the Saudi Transport General Authority and counterparts in other countries, in the field of maritime transport, and authorizing the minister of transport and logistic services and chairman of the board of directors of the authority to discuss and sign with counterparts in other countries draft cooperation agreements.

The Cabinet approved a Saudi Arabia-UK agreement of cooperation in the field of air transport.

It authorized the minister of transport and logistic services and chairman of the board of directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation to discuss and sign a draft agreement of cooperation in the field of air transport services with Finland.

The Cabinet authorized the president of the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers to discuss and sign with the Singaporean Ministry of Law a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the legal field. — SPA
