RIYADH — Assistant Speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council Dr. Hanan bint Abdulrahim Al-Ahmadi met with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly at the Shoura Council headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ahmadi highlighted the council’s active role in parliamentary diplomacy and its impact on developing and strengthening relations with councils and parliaments, as well as in enriching parliamentary work, and fostering cooperation.

She briefed Joly on the Shoura Council’s legislative and oversight role. The meeting covered several topics of common interest and cooperation between the two countries. The parliamentary relations between the Shoura Council and the Canadian parliament and various other topics were also figured in their talks.

Several members and committee heads of the Shoura Council and Canadian officials also attended the meeting.
