ALULA —
Picking oranges has become a cherished tradition in the agricultural landscape of AlUla Governorate, especially this year as it aligns with the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.

The region is home to approximately 4,700 farms, housing over 200,000 citrus trees across various species.

These trees sprawl across more than 800 hectares and have the capacity to produce thousands of tons of citrus fruits each season.

Families in AlUla relish the opportunity to bring their children for orange picking, offering them a hands-on experience with nature.

The activity is more than just harvesting fruit; it is enveloped in splendid weather and breathtaking landscapes, making it a profound cultural, agricultural, and touristic venture that attracts tourists from all over the globe.

The Royal Commission for AlUla annually hosts a citrus festival, which has become a cornerstone event for the community.

This festival not only provides employment opportunities and stimulates economic growth, but it also encourages competition among producers.

Visitors are treated to an exceptional experience, gaining insights into AlUla's agricultural sector, which contributes over 600,000 tons of produce annually.

This accounts for 30 percent of the total agricultural output in the Kingdom, highlighting the significance of this region in the broader agricultural landscape.
