Americans to face 'bloodbath' if not reelected, says Trump

March 17, 2024

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump has warned of a "bloodbath" in the United States if he does not win the upcoming presidential election.

During a rally at Dayton International Airport in Vandalia, Ohio, aimed at supporting Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, Trump made his stark warning. He discussed the potential of an escalating trade war with China, particularly concerning auto manufacturing, NBC News reported.

Trump, addressing Chinese President Xi Jinping, stated, "If you’re listening, President Xi — and you and I are friends — but he understands the way I deal."

He threatened to impose a 100% tariff on cars manufactured in Mexico and sold in the US if he is reelected, claiming such measures would prevent a national "bloodbath."

The former president also expressed doubts about the future of US elections, implying that without his reelection, the democratic process might be at risk. A Trump campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, criticized President Joe Biden's policies, suggesting they would lead to an economic disaster for the auto industry.

Trump reiterated his support for individuals imprisoned for their involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, referring to them as "hostages" and promising to address their situation upon returning to office. His comments at the rally also included controversial remarks about undocumented immigrants and a call to Catholics not to vote for Biden.

In response, James Singer, a spokesperson for Biden's campaign, criticized Trump's behavior and rhetoric, highlighting his appeal to authoritarianism, political violence, and extremist support. Singer also mentioned former Vice President Mike Pence's refusal to endorse Trump, underscoring the division within their party and Trump's continued push towards political violence and revenge. — Agencies
