LONDON
— The Saudi Journalists Association participated in the meetings of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in London as an observer.

The meetings, organized and hosted by the British Press Association, discussed the effects of artificial intelligence on the journalism profession and the means of protecting journalists in conflict areas.

The head of the Association, Adhwan Al-Ahmari, confirmed the importance of building bridges with the international press federations and benefiting from their experiences to develop the authority.

He said: "This is the first time that the Association participates as an observer after obtaining membership in the International Press Federation at the end of last year, and our ambition is to play a greater role in the Federation during the coming period."

On the sidelines of the meetings, the International Press Federation announced its pledge to support the development of journalists’ skills to keep pace with the rapid development in professional tools and the power of artificial intelligence and its applications.

A session was also held to discuss the union’s budget and review the final financial report and work rules.
