LONDON — Faisal Abbas, Editor-in-Chief of Arab News, launched his new book "Anecdotes of an Arab Anglophile" at the Society of Authors headquarters in London recently.

The event, hosted by Chris Doyle of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), explored key themes from Abbas's latest work published by Nomad Publishing in English.

Among the topics covered were the importance of cultural bridges and understanding the customs and traditions of diverse societies. The discussion also addressed reforms within Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030 and their significance regionally and globally.

In his opening remarks, Saudi Ambassador to Britain, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan, praised "Arab News", published in English by the Saudi Research and Media Group, and its literary contributions under Abbas's leadership, stating that they facilitate his diplomatic role.

He noted a shift in global perspectives on the Middle East, describing it as part of the renaissance witnessed in Saudi Arabia across cultural, economic, and commercial domains.

Sir Ben Elliot, a prominent British speaker at the event, highlighted the vital role such books play in enhancing respect and understanding between our two nations.

He emphasized the enriching impact of cultural exchange, travel, respect, and open dialogue as emphasized in books like those authored by Faisal Abbas.

Following the seminar, there was a book signing session and a networking reception attended by members of parliament, lords, as well as prominent British and Arab journalists and academics. — SG
