Shoura Council delegation participates in G20 Parliamentary Women’s Meeting

— A delegation from the Shoura Council, represented by Council members Dr. Mona Al-Mushait and Dr. Alia Dahlawi, participated in the inaugural G20 Parliamentary Women’s (P20) meeting held in Maceió, Brazil.

In her address, Dr. Alia Al-Dahlawi highlighted the significant advancements in policies and legislation supporting the participation of Saudi women in national development, thanks to the support and vision of the leadership.

"The transformation journey of Saudi Arabia with Vision 2030 has effectively created diverse job opportunities for all, ensuring inclusive economic growth and equal opportunities that contribute to our nation's prosperity," said Dr. Dahlawi.

She noted that women's economic empowerment has seen successive leaps in recent years, with Saudi women's participation in the labor market currently at 35.3%.

Dr. Dahlawi emphasized that, through substantial efforts in the Kingdom, women have become partners in national development across various sectors, including commerce, engineering, sports, justice, technology, and many more.

The two-day meeting, held under Brazil's presidency of the G20 for 2024, saw participation from female parliamentarians of G20 member legislative bodies, representatives from international organizations, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The discussions covered several topics, including the role of women in climate justice and environmental sustainability, and initiatives aimed at increasing women's participation and economic empowerment.
