NUKU’ALOFA On behalf of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir is attending the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Nuku’alofa, capital city of the Pacific nation Tonga. Tonga Prime Minister Hu’akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni chaired the five-day conference, which will conclude on Friday.

The meeting focuses on global issues, particularly challenges facing the Pacific region and the impact of climate change. Leaders will discuss intensifying international cooperation in areas of common interest. Al-Jubeir will hold bilateral meetings with representatives of participating countries to discuss bilateral relations and topics of mutual concern.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese are among the leaders attending the conference, under the theme “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now”. The Pacific Islands Forum Leaders meet annually to develop collective responses to regional issues and deliver on their vision for a resilient Pacific Region of peace, harmony, security, social inclusion and prosperity, that ensures all Pacific peoples can lead free, healthy and productive lives.

Leaders are engaging in discussions and agree on policies that will ultimately benefit the people of the region. This gathering is a unique opportunity for leaders to address pressing issues and challenges facing the Blue Pacific Continent, and foster collaboration and cooperation in the pursuit of shared goals.
