King Salman appoints Lt. Gen. Fahd Al-Salman Commander of the Joint Forces

RIYADH Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has appointed Fahd Al-Salman as Commander of the Joint Forces after promoting him from the rank of major general to the rank of lieutenant general. The King has made the appointment in one of a series of royal decrees issued on Thursday.

In another decree, King Salman terminated the service of Lt. Gen. Mutlaq Al-Azima, Commander of the Joint Forces, by referring him to retirement starting from the date of the royal order, and appointing him as an advisor to the Royal Court with the rank of lieutenant general, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

In another decree, the King relieved Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces Lt. Gen. Fahd Al-Ghufaili from his position, and appointed him Deputy Chief of the General Staff with the rank of lieutenant general. The King promoted Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Gharibi to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed him as Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces.

In other royal orders, the King relieved Chief of Staff of the Land Forces Lt. Gen. Fahd Al-Mutair from his position and appointed him as an advisor in the Office of the Minister of Defense, and promoted Maj. Gen. Fahd Al-Johni to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed him as Chief of Staff of the Land Forces.

The royal decrees also included relieving Samir Al-Tabib, advisor in the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and appointing him as an advisor in the Ministry of Defense with the excellent rank.
