RIYADH — Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been honored with a special award recognizing his extraordinary legacy in the UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese star remains the all-time top scorer of the prestigious competition with 140 goals in 183 appearances, scored while playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

Ronaldo has topped the scoring charts in seven separate Champions League seasons and has won the trophy five times. He is also the only player to have scored in three finals.

After leaving Europe in 2022, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner continued his illustrious career in the Roshn Saudi League (RSL), where he has since inspired a wave of stars to join Saudi football.

Since joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 51 goals in 49 matches, making him the third-fastest player in league history to reach 50 goals.

He set a new record in the 2023-24 season as the league’s all-time highest scorer in a single season, netting 35 goals and winning the RSL Golden Boot.

The 39-year-old has started the 2024-25 season strongly, with two goals in his opening two matches, including a stunning free-kick against Al Fayha. Ronaldo now stands just one goal away from his 900th career goal. — SG
