September 15, 2024

KYIV — Britain and the US have reiterated their "unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity" in a joint statement released on Saturday.

This affirmation followed the UK-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, where British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met in London.

The statement condemned Russia’s recent airstrikes on Ukrainian civilians and highlighted both countries’ commitment to mobilize military and financial resources for Ukraine, while intensifying pressure on the Kremlin.

The dialogue also addressed Iran’s military support for Russia, with Blinken revealing that "Russia has received ballistic missiles from Iran." Both nations condemned this development and pledged coordinated actions in response.

Regarding the Gaza conflict, the US and Britain reiterated their support for "Israel’s security" and endorsed mediation efforts to secure a cease-fire.

They also emphasized their commitment to a "free and open Indo-Pacific" and criticized China’s actions in the South China Sea, reaffirming the importance of "peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait" for international security.

Additionally, the dialogue reinforced joint efforts to combat corruption, promote economic growth, and collaborate on climate goals ahead of COP29, the UN Climate Change Conference scheduled for November in Baku, Azerbaijan. — Agencies
