WASHINGTON — Saudi Arabia renewed its position rejecting extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Speaking at a meeting marking the 10th anniversary of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS in Washington, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “The world is witnessing many unprecedented crises, risks and challenges, including the rise of the scourge of terrorism and the danger and the threat it poses to international peace and security, which requires everyone to cooperate to confront it”.

Reiterating Saudi Arabia's position rejecting extremism, terrorism and its financing in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its motives, he pointed to the effective role played by the Kingdom in maintaining security and confronting the phenomenon of terrorism at local, regional and international levels, through its adoption of an integrated strategy.

Dr. Al-Rassi referred to the financial contributions and efforts made by Saudi Arabia since the establishment of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS, the latest of which was a financial contribution of $30 million in 2023. The Kingdom hosted the ministerial meeting in 2014 and 2023, and joined the co-chairmanship of the Financing Group and the Focus Group on Africa, he said.

Representing Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Rassi participated in the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. The meeting, chaired by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken with the participation of 87 countries, coincides with the 10th anniversary of the founding of the coalition.
