IMF Committee meeting chaired by Saudi Arabia focuses on global economic developments and multilateral cooperation

WASHINGTON —
The Deputy Chairman of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dr. Riyadh Al-Khorayef, chaired the second meeting of the Committee’s Deputies in Washington, DC, under Saudi Arabia’s presidency.

Al-Khorayef emphasized the significance of the meeting, noting that it coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Bretton Woods institutions. He highlighted the committee’s vital role in fostering multilateral cooperation and offering strategic advice and recommendations for the Fund’s future directions.

The meeting also focused on reviewing key global economic developments and discussing top priorities and recommendations.

On the sidelines, Al-Khorayef met with the IMF's First Deputy Managing Director, Gita Gopinath, along with several Fund undersecretaries, to explore ways to enhance joint cooperation and address key issues set to be discussed during the upcoming IMF meetings scheduled for October 21-26, 2024, in Washington.
