RIYADH — The Kingdom’s delegation, led by Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, took part in the Ministerial Meeting for the G20 Women Empowerment Working Group, hosted by Brazil in the capital, Brasilia, on October 8-9, 2024.

The meeting, held under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet," focused on key priorities including gender equality, combating violence and discrimination against women, and climate justice. Policy discussions centered on advancing initiatives that support and empower women globally.

Dr. Al-Khalil highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements in women’s empowerment, particularly the increase in women’s participation in the workforce, which has reached 35.4% by 2024.

She also emphasized the adoption of the National Policy for Equal Opportunities and Treatment in Employment and Profession in 2023, which aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision for equal opportunities and gender justice. — SG
