RIYADH — Ethar Baamer’s Saudi short film "In Between" is set to make its European premiere at the Italian Middle East Now Festival, running from October 15 to 20.
Written and directed by Baamer, the abstract animation explores a woman’s journey through her twenties as she navigates societal expectations, blending reality and fantasy in her quest for self-discovery.
The film, featuring a captivating score by Zach McNeil, first premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival and went on to participate in the 10th Saudi Film Festival and the 11th Tripoli Film Festival.
Ethar Baamer, a Saudi artist and animation director, holds a master’s in fine arts and animation design from the Pratt Institute in New York. Her work is deeply rooted in her Saudi heritage, with a focus on translating subconscious thoughts into tangible artistic expressions. — SG
