RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,225,200 Captagon pills, which were found hidden in a shipment arriving in the Kingdom through the Halat Ammar border crossing.

The authority reported that a shipment containing a marble mixer was subjected to routine customs procedures. During security inspections using advanced technology and live detection methods, a significant quantity of the banned pills was discovered concealed within the shipment.

Following the seizure, the authority coordinated with the General Directorate for Drug Control to ensure the arrest of those who were supposed to receive the drugs inside the Kingdom. Two individuals were subsequently apprehended and charged with the smuggling attempt.

The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority reiterated its commitment to tightening customs controls over the Kingdom's imports and exports, remaining vigilant against smuggling attempts. This effort is part of an ongoing collaboration with the General Directorate for Drug Control to enhance safety and protect society against such threats.

The authority urged the public to participate in combating smuggling to safeguard the community and the national economy.
