October 19, 2024

SEOUL — North Korea announced on Saturday that it had discovered the remains of a South Korean drone that allegedly violated its airspace, according to the state news agency KCNA.

A spokesperson from the North Korean Defense Ministry stated that specialized institutions conducted a forensic examination of the drone's remains, confirming through scientific analysis that it originated from South Korea.

Experts concluded that the drone was a "light one for long-range reconnaissance" and was operated by the Drone Operation Command of the Republic of Korea (ROK) military, the ministry reported.

Pyongyang issued a stern warning, stating that any further violations by the South Korean military would be considered a declaration of war and would prompt an immediate retaliatory attack.

This announcement follows North Korea's earlier accusations against the South Korean military for multiple drone incursions over its capital on three occasions earlier this month. — Agencies
