Saudi Arabia to host the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah

The Ministry of Sports announced that Saudi Arabia will host the Spanish Super Cup for the fifth time in Jeddah from January 8 to 12, 2025.

The tournament will feature four clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Mallorca.

The matches will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, following a knockout format.

In the first match, Real Madrid will face Real Mallorca on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

The following day, Barcelona will go up against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, January 9.

The winners of these matches will advance to the final, scheduled for Sunday evening, January 12.

Saudi Arabia previously hosted four editions of the Spanish Super Cup, with the first being in 2020 in Jeddah, where Real Madrid won the title after defeating Atletico Madrid.

The tournament then moved to Riyadh for its second edition, which Real Madrid also claimed in 2022.

In the third edition, Barcelona lifted the trophy after beating Real Madrid, and Real Madrid won the fourth edition held in Riyadh earlier this year in 2024.

Notably, Barcelona holds the record for the most Spanish Super Cup titles, having won it 14 times out of 27 previous participations, followed by Real Madrid with 12 titles. Athletic Bilbao ranks third with 3 titles, alongside Deportivo La Coruña, while Atletico Madrid has secured the trophy twice.
