RIYADH — Brazilian star Neymar, playing for Al Hilal, has joined his rival Cristiano Ronaldo from Al Nassr in embracing Saudi culture by wearing the traditional Saudi thobe at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh during his team’s match against Al Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo was the first to don the Saudi thobe at official events in the Kingdom, previously stating that the outfit is comfortable and offers a different feeling, making it suitable for the summer months.
Photos of Neymar, along with his daughter and wife Bruna, showcasing the Saudi thobe in the stadium have circulated widely on social media.
Earlier, Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus discussed the expected contributions from Neymar, confirming that the decision to exclude him from the league until January was the right one.
“We are happy to have a significant and globally renowned player like Neymar back,” said Jesus.
“Everyone is eager to see his return after a year of preparation and rehabilitation.”
Jesus emphasized the importance of not rushing Neymar's reintegration into the squad, stating, “Not including him in the league is appropriate to ensure he is prepared step by step. This phase is crucial for his physical and mental readiness to regain full fitness.”
