WASHINGTON — The FBI issued a statement Saturday addressing the spread of two misleading videos falsely claiming affiliation with the bureau regarding election security.

According to the FBI, one video inaccurately suggests that FBI agents apprehended groups involved in ballot fraud, while the other references Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris. Both videos have been confirmed as inauthentic.

The FBI stressed that "election integrity is among our highest priorities," adding that it is working closely with state and local law enforcement to address election-related threats and ensure public safety ahead of the November 5 elections.

The bureau cautioned that spreading false information about its operations "undermines our democratic process and aims to erode trust in the electoral system."

It urged Americans to seek reliable election information from credible sources, such as local election offices, and report any suspected criminal activity to state or local authorities or their local FBI office. — Agencies
