Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH —The Jeddah Mayoralty announced that the traffic flow became smoother on the Palestine Street after removing encroachments of commercial shops.

The mayoralty removed the encroachments of 19 commercial shops, with a total area exceeding 1,600 square meters, as part of the mayoralty's ongoing efforts to dismantle random construction and prevent encroachments in all its forms covering all neighborhoods in the city.

The removed encroachments cover the area located on the southern lane in front of Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, after witnessing traffic congestion due to commercial stores encroaching on parts of the main street. The removal of encroachments came after the supervisory authorities in the mayoralty confirmed that the shops were constructed in a way encroaching on the planning lanes and Palestine Street, in addition to the lack of building permits and update of documents. The mayoralty indicated that these removals will directly work to widen the road for its users.

It is noteworthy that the mayoralty had served notices to the shop owners asking them to evacuate the encroachments, in preparation for their removal after the expiry of the deadline at a time when the violators rushed to correct the status of their shops through addressing the violations. The Jeddah Mayoralty reiterated its determination to end encroachments, as well as to instruct the branch municipalities to prevent violations and remove encroachments through continuous inspection tours within the neighborhoods and the mayoralty's peripheral areas.
