RIYADH —
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Taha, affirmed that the convening of the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh is a direct response to the ongoing atrocities and genocide being committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine and Lebanon.

He condemned the targeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the Palestinian refugee issue, and Israel’s attempts to displace the Palestinian people.

Taha emphasized that these actions, coupled with the escalation of the conflict, constitute a blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.

Taha made these remarks during his participation in the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, where he addressed the urgent need for action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon.

He called for the immediate implementation of Security Council Resolution 2735, which demands a ceasefire and the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.

He further urged the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza and the empowerment of the Palestinian government to fulfill its responsibilities in the region.

Additionally, Taha called for an immediate and complete cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701, which seeks to prevent the escalation of violence in the region.

He stressed the importance of preserving Lebanon’s unity and security and ensuring the sovereignty of the Lebanese state over its recognized borders.

Taha concluded by emphasizing that the international community must act decisively to prevent further suffering and violence in Palestine and Lebanon.
