RIYADH — Saudi Arabia expressed satisfaction with the positive steps being taken to ensure the safety of the Syrian people, halt bloodshed, and preserve the institutions and capabilities of the Syrian state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving Syria’s security and stability, while preserving its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
“Saudi Arabia has followed the rapid developments in Syria,” the ministry stated, reiterating its support for the Syrian people and their choices at this critical stage in their history, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The statement called for unified efforts to maintain Syria’s territorial unity and the cohesion of its people, emphasizing the need to prevent the country from sliding into chaos or division.
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to stand by the Syrian people, offering cooperation in ways that serve their aspirations without interfering in Syria’s internal affairs.
“Supporting Syria at this crucial stage is essential to overcome the suffering endured by its people for years,” the ministry said, highlighting the devastating toll of the conflict, which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions.
The Kingdom also condemned the actions of foreign militias in Syria, accusing them of imposing external agendas and exacerbating the plight of the Syrian people.
The ministry emphasized that it is time for Syrians to enjoy the dignified life they deserve, calling on all segments of Syrian society to contribute to shaping a future marked by security, stability, and prosperity.
The statement concluded with Saudi Arabia’s hope for Syria’s return to its rightful position in the Arab and Islamic worlds.
