DIRIYAH — The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) hosted the second Diriyah Global Seminar under the theme "Timeless Knowledge" from Dec. 8 to 9.

Titled "Crossroads of Trade and Tradition: Diriyah and Central Arabia’s Role in Global Exchange," the event highlighted the rich cultural and trade heritage of the region and was attended by Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Abdullah bin Turki, Governor of Diriyah.

Accompanying the seminar is an exhibition, "Caravans of Memories," held at Bujairi Terrace and running until December 15. The exhibition complements the seminar by showcasing Diriyah's history and cultural legacy.

This year’s seminar delved into three interconnected aspects of Diriyah’s heritage. It focussed on the tangible heritage of trade, emphasizing archaeological, architectural, and environmental legacies that reflect the historical significance of Diriyah as a trade hub.

The seminar also explored intangible heritage through interactive experiences, including recordings of oral history, traditional poetry, and folk songs that celebrate Najdi traditions. Additionally, it examines textual heritage, featuring manuscripts, travel narratives, and linguistic developments that document the cultural and historical evolution of Diriyah and the central region.

Through these efforts, the seminar underscores Diriyah's historical importance in global exchange while preserving its timeless cultural and historical contributions for future generations. — SPA
