RIYADH
Saudi Arabia claimed first place at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY), outperforming 129 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, India, Greece, Canada, and Singapore.

The Kingdom’s delegation of 1,298 students from various public education stages showcased 662 innovative AI projects, earning 22 medals—more than any other participating nation.

The Saudi delegation’s achievements included gold, silver, bronze, and special awards, demonstrating the nation’s growing leadership in artificial intelligence.

The competition featured over 18,000 students globally, with Saudi Arabia surpassing other top-performing countries such as the United States (20 awards), India (5 awards), and Greece (5 awards).

Students from Saudi Arabia competed across four tracks: AI Showcase, AI-Generated Art, AI Large Language Model, and AI-Generated Video. Participants hailed from notable schools, including Misk, Nimr Education Center, Ajyal Aramco, and NEOM.

This victory underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing expertise in AI, backed by a strong foundation in education and innovation. The Kingdom’s AI achievements have been previously recognized in the sixth edition of Stanford University’s Artificial Intelligence Index report in 2023, highlighting the nation’s advancing capabilities and awareness in the field.
