RIYADH — The 5th general meeting of the heads of the Saudi missions abroad discussed on Sunday the priorities of Saudi foreign policy and the role of the missions in achieving the Kingdom’s strategic goals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the meeting under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and in the presence of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The meeting, under the title "The new Saudi diplomacy: constants and developments in light of Vision 2030" discussed the role of Saudi missions in contributing to achieving the goals of the Vision 2030. The administrative, financial and digital work that enables missions to improve work efficiency was also figured in the discussions.

The agenda of the meeting included interactive dialogues and presentations with the aim of discussing and examining the ministry's strategies and initiatives and exchanging visions on their implementation. This is in addition to activating coordination between the Saudi missions abroad and government agencies, and exchanging views on issues related to their tasks on the external scene in a way that serves the interests of the country and the citizens.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah; Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb; Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Al-Falih; Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim; Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary; President of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Hala bint Mazid Al-Tuwaijri; Advisor to the Royal Court Dr. Fahd Tunisi, and Deputy Minister of Sports Badr Al-Qadi.

The sessions of the meeting were also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed Al-Kheraiji, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Executive Affairs Abdulhadi Al-Mansouri, and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first meeting of the heads of the Saudi missions abroad was held in Riyadh in 2006 with the slogan of "Improving diplomatic performance", followed by the second meeting in 2010 that discussed the Foreign Ministry's five-year strategic plan and the role of missions in implementing it. The third meeting, held in 2013, focused on reviewing work strategies and professional performance standards while the fourth meeting was held in 2017 under the slogan of "The Ambassador's Message".
