Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Saudi security forces have busted a five-member gang, who involved in drug trafficking, under the guise of the local bee import business. They included one Saudi citizen and four Egyptian nationals, according to a source of the Ministry of Interior.

The gang's criminal activities included smuggling drugs while importing beehives for a beekeeping business through concealing amphetamine tablets in the hives and shipping them into the Kingdom. They then transported the drugs in a refrigerated vehicle to Al-Darb governorate in the southern Jazan region, where the drugs were distributed and sold.

The arrested gang members were referred to the Public Prosecution after taking the necessary legal procedures. The ministry reiterated its resolve to combat all attempts to undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom or endanger its citizens and residents.

While underlining its relented efforts to combat drug smuggling and trafficking in the Kingdom, the ministry stressed that it remains vigilant against all criminal schemes of drug smuggling to target the nation and its people.
